I am sure all of you will have listened to the latest briefing held by our Chief Minister stating the island will return to lockdown from midnight on Wednesday.

Wednesday 6th January

The school will be open as normal tomorrow (Wednesday 6th January) for students to attend, however attendance will not be compulsory so parents can keep their children at home if they wish.

Key worker children and vulnerable children hub provision

From Thursday however, the school will be 'closed to most' with hub provision being provided for those children who are considered vulnerable or who are the children of designated keyworkers. I will be writing to all parents on Wednesday morning explaining how to apply for hub provision and giving details of how this will run. A link to the keyworker criteria can be found here.

Remote learning

The vast majority of students will be required to stay at home from Thursday. From this point teachers will provide learning via their Google Classrooms, similar to as was done previously. Students will be expected to follow their normal school timetable as much as is possible and their subject teachers will be accessible remotely during those timetabled lessons. Again, more guidance will follow over the coming days but learning activities will be available from Thursday morning for all students.

External BTEC Exams

There are a number of external BTEC exams scheduled tomorrow and in the coming weeks. We have agreed with DESC that these will continue to run and we will set the exam venues up to ensure students are socially distanced and adhere to all of our other hub precautions. If your son/daughter is due to sit any of these exams they should attend if they can. Again, more guidance on this will be shared with those students and families who are affected by this.

Y12 Internal Mock Exams

The Year 12 Internal Mock Exams due to commence next week will be postponed for the moment and we will look to see how we can run these either remotely or when the students return to school after the lockdown period.

I will look to update you all regularly and please do get in touch with school via 'enquiries' or by telephoning the school office if you have any queries at all. We all very much hope this circuit breaker lockdown works and we are all back in lessons and school by the end of January. In the meantime stay safe. Be responsible and whenever you can please stay at home.

Kindest regards,

Mr. Coole
