Yesterday, the Year 12 Criminology class had an extremely interesting visit to the Isle of Man prison. They spent the afternoon hearing about the typical journey of an Isle of Man prisoner. The students were lucky enough to visit many different areas of the prison including the visitor hall and the induction wing. Many students were surprised by how small and basic the cells actually are!
We were also shown the educational facilities that are available to the prisoners and were able to meet trainee staff who are currently engaged with the training programme in order to become a qualified Prison Guard.
Many thanks to the Staff of the Isle of Man prison for allowing us access, we really appreciated their time and had an engaging and really interesting afternoon.
