On Monday 12th December the Lt. Governor, John Lorimer, visited our Upper School and gave an assembly to all of our Sixth Form and Keystage Four Prefects and student leaders.
He spoke to the students about the role of the Isle of Man’s Lt. Governor - how he very much sees the role having a constitutional function, a ceremonial function and a community function.
His Excellency also spoke with great fondness for the Isle of Man and his own motivations and experiences which led him to choosing to come here and take up the role.
Finally His Excellency spoke to all of our student leaders about what makes strong leadership where he drew upon his forty years of experience working as an officer in the British Army’s Parachute regiment.
A question / answer session then followed where the students were able to ask him lots of questions. The staff and students were very appreciative and thankful for His Excellency giving up some of his time to file and visit his local school and we hope there are many more opportunities in the future for him to come again.
