On Monday 26th June, A Level Biology students attended a local field trip to sample seaweed on the Port Jack end of Douglas Beach. This was part of their Practical Endorsement for their Biology A Level course. Students and staff enjoyed the sunny weather to walk to the site and survey the beach. Students worked in groups to sample seaweed along a belt line transect on Douglas beach and were able to identify and quantify the abundance of different seaweed species. Students enjoyed a nice lunch on the beach with items from the Spar/Sandwich shop at Castle Mona. In the following lessons, students analysed and discussed their results and presented this in their Lab books.
We would like to thank all our A-Level Biology students for their enthusiasm and Miss Johnson and Miss Salway for organising the trip.
