The Year 9 rugby season has come to an end and finished on a high with a win against King William’s. Last week’s game against Ballakermeen was abandoned due to the torrential rain, and although we were losing at the time it was a very even and competitive game.

On Friday, the Year 9 lads had their final match of the season against KWC on home turf. Following a slow start the boys conceded the first score with a converted try giving KWC a 0-7 lead into half time. Early in the second half the southerners were pegged back after some excellent play in midfield from George Leece, Travis Bradshaw and Zohar Shalem, who released Ollie Kent who went over in the corner. Leece narrowly missed the conversion so the boys were 5-7 down with around 15 minutes to play. The game ebbed and flowed with both teams giving everything to get the all-important next try, however, with 2 minutes left KWC kicked the ball straight to full back Liam Blake who ran it into the corner from his own half to seal a 10-7 victory. The Saints were over the moon to finally get a well-deserved win with every member of the squad contributing to an all-round excellent performance.

Well done lads, and thanks for a great season.
