The SNHS Senior girls (Years 11, 12 and 13 combined) have had a great season in Netball this term, showing commitment to training and matches, and proving themselves on court, every game. Our first game was against Ballakermeen High School and the Saints took away two strong wins, with the A team game finishing 53-14. Saints played some impressive netball, particularly as it was the first time these girls have played together and it was a great way to kick off Senior Netball 2025.
Our second game was against KWC and the A Team Saints fought hard to walk away with a win by one goal, 32-31. It was a high intensity match and the girls gave it their all on the court. Our next game against Ramsey Grammar School was the most exciting of the season, it was end to end, goal for goal and remained that way throughout the whole game. At the end of each quarter there were only ever 2 goals between the two sides, with Saints taking the lead after the first quarter, RGS taking the lead at half time and the third quarter being drawn, the Saints went into the final quarter trailing by two goals. Ramsey managed to pull away at the start of the quarter but the Saints remained calm and clinical and we pulled it back to within one goal and then level, in the last few seconds of the game the Saints took the lead and the game finished 27-26 to Saints - what an exciting game!
Saints walked away with a comfortable win from QEII - 49-15, although the scoreline did not reflect the game, QEII put up a good fight and challenged every ball! We then finished the season with a match against Castle Rushen High School, the opposition were a very strong side and with both teams going into the game having won all of their previous matches it was due to be a good match. CRHS were clinical in their attack and defence and the Saints did everything they could to minimise the damage that CRHS were able to do. The game finished 46-24, with Saints being pleased to walk away having scored more than half the goals of CRHS. Finishing second in the league and earning a place in the Semi-Final is a fantastic achievement and the girls should be extremely proud of themselves.
The Semi-Final took place this week against a Ramsey side who had a point to prove, after such a close game in the league fixture. Drawing the first quarter 4-4 the game looked set to be another close one, not missing a shot, Ramsey took the lead by two at half time. The second half was not as close and in the end, Ramsey managed to comfortably take the win at 31-17. The Saints should be extremely proud of the way they have conducted themselves all season and also the level that they are playing at - losing Captain Sienna Thatcher and Vice-Captain Abigail Campbell next year as they come to the end of their time at SNHS, will be a big loss to the team and I would like to thank them for their time, commitment and energy towards Netball at SNHS.
The B team had a very successful season too winning all of their matches and supporting the A team when there was only one fixture - Georgia Halsall received player of the match for the majority of the matches that they played. I am looking forward to next year when hopefully some of the B team players will step up to the A team.
