Last week, our Sixth Form Criminology students had an interesting visit to the Isle of Man Prison, gaining real-world insight into the criminal justice system.
As part of our current studies on the aims of punishment, we explored whether prison effectively meets these goals. The visit gave us a deeper understanding of the daily routines of prisoners, the structure of their day, and the rehabilitation programmes that are in place. Hearing from staff about the challenges and realities of prison life allowed us to critically assess its role in punishment and rehabilitation.
A huge thank you to the Isle of Man Prison team, especially Armando, for another informative and engaging visit!
