Earlier this year Year 8 enjoyed a visit to the Energy from Waste plant on Richmond Hill.This involved a tour of the plant and investigating how it works and fits into the wider world. As part of the assessment the pupils had to design a leaflet.The best three students from each tutor group were chosen and accolades worth 5 merits were awarded.The Geography Department then chose the best 3 leaflets.
Rebecca Park, Monty Russell and Jessica Goldsmith won and had a return visit back to the plant. Here we saw the giant fans as featured on the film “Stormbreaker” and the students had a chance to operate the massive grabber in the waste pit. A great experience was had by all.
