The English Department were delighted to welcome two authors to school last week. Zoe Gilbert, who has recently published her first novel ‘Folk’ came to do some work with our Sixth Form English students on writing subverted fairytales. There was much animated discussion and they had a lot of fun coming up with their own ideas which Zoe was very impressed by. She also had time to tell us a little about how she became an author and the students were able to ask some questions and find out a bit about what it’s like as a career.

Some Year 7 students worked with Tommie Gillow, who is a performance poet. She shared some of her poetry and then inspired the students to create a poem that showed a high level of passion. The students created some amazing poems about best friends, their “perfect” sibling and even Mr. Aldridge!

Many thanks to all involved.
