Last week our Year 13 students had their Life Skills Enrichment Day which was a great success. The Life Skills Enrichment Day is an extension of the two year PSHE program which is delivered to KS5. This programme is facilitated by tutors and is designed to develop pupils' emotional literacy, social and study skills. Weekly tutorials, as well as mentoring sessions are extended with seminars, such as typing, mind mapping and car maintenance

We were delighted to welcome the IOM Constabulary who discussed the issues of driving safely and also sexting. Students took part in practical sessions on self defence, first aid and cooking on a budget. Lloyds Bank provided sessions on financial awareness and managing personal finances. Finally, we welcomed ‘Smaller Earth’, a UK company based in Liverpool, which offer travelling opportunities to A Level school leavers. They awarded several prizes on the day, one of which was funded a funded placement with Smaller Earth to China or the USA. Congratulations to Georgia Stokes who was the recipient of this.

All sessions are aimed at equipping students with the skills they need once they leave school, whether that is to embark on further education, go into employment or to go travelling.

Huge thanks to all the volunteers who enabled our students to engage in such worthwhile activities.
