This week in Debate Club we were very fortunate to have guest speakers in to debate our motion “Abortion law should be modernised as set out in the proposed Abortion Reform Bill”

Dr Fiona Baker spoke against the motion and put forward a convincing argument of the need to guard against the abuse of the proposed legislation and what this may mean in particular for a foetus that is identified as disabled.

Stephanie Kelsey spoke on behalf of CALM and made a strong case for a woman’s right to choose.

There were unprecedented numbers of the Sixth Form in attendance with a range of points and questions raised from the audience.

With the final vote, the motion was carried. Well done to all those who took part and for the fantastic turnout.
