On Thursday 6th December some of our Year 12 and 13 A Level Biology and Chemistry students attended The Manx Biomed Conference at the Villa Marina. Students were able to hear from speakers from various companies in Health and Life Sciences based on and related to the Isle of Man. The purpose of the event from an educational perspective was to show students the vast, developing and exciting array of career, job and entrepreneurial opportunities there are on the Isle of Man related to the Health and Biomedical field. Many of the companies were very keen to establish positive working relationships with SNHS, stimulating interest in jobs within life sciences on the island, school based workshops and work experience. At SNHS this collaboration is very much welcomed. Students were able to network and interact with delegates at the conference and were treated to lunch too. The day was very interesting and students particularly enjoyed seeing a how life science is related to business, commerce and politics on both the Manx level and on an international scale.

Many thanks to all involved from providing such a great opportunity.
