The Year 11 rugby team entered the 10-a-side tournament held under the floodlights at Ramsey Rugby Club on Wednesday night. The first match was against local rivals Ballakermeen with the Saints coming out on top with a 17-0 win. Craig Martin was in the points with two tries and a conversion, with Josh Blackburn picking up the other try. Game two was against the favourites Castle Rushen who played well to win 12-0, although the St. Ninian’s boys put up a real fight in a very physical game. In the next game there was a narrow loss to QEII 14-19 with Criag once again scoring well with a try and two conversions, Tom Coleman also picked up a try. The final game was against hosts Ramsey Grammar where the boys knew a win would secure 2nd overall. Kyle Martin started off the scoring with a great individual try into the corner. The second half started well too with brothers Kyle and Craig combining with twin-like telepathy, Craig this time finishing off the move with a try. In the last minutes, Brendan Kelly scored a great individual try to make the final score 15-7 and finish 2nd overall. Well done to all the lads who took part until nearly 9pm on a chilly evening at the Mooragh pitch.
