Thursday 10th October is World Mental Health Day and we would like to mark this in school in a number of ways. On Thursday lunch time we will be holding 'Tea and Talk' event in the upper school hall which is open to students and staff. There will not be a charge for this, but donation buckets for Reach IOM will be available if anyone feels that they would like to contribute. We have received several charitable donations from local businesses to support this event and would like to express our thanks to Shoprite, Mann Vend and Agrimark Ltd.

Throughout the week we have a number of other events planned to mark the importance of looking after our mental health e.g. Reach IOM are leading upper school assemblies, we have some knit, natter and craft activities taking place at lunch times, as well as a community jigsaw.

Posters will be visible around the building with information about where students can access help and support as this year’s campaign focuses on “Ask Twice” when supporting your friends. We are also featuring a display of celebrities who have spoken out about mental health issues to help reduce the stigma.

The Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families has produced a leaflet to help parents and carers, giving useful hints and tips on how to approach the subject with children.
