We were delighted to welcome back some former students on Tuesday morning who delivered an assembly on their university experiences, giving our Year 12 students some valuable advice.
Abi, currently studying Law and Business, suggested setting up a Linkedin account. She also advised students to ensure that they prioritise their mental health.
Vala, currently studying Biomedical Science, advised making the most of all the opportunities given and to consider a work placement to develop your skills and confidence.
Saffron, studying Law, suggested visiting universities when the opportunity arises, as well as joining societies which had opened up a world of new friendships for her. She also reminded students to make the most of the Manx Universe Facebook page, where students can seek advice on all aspects of university.
Ruby gave us an insight into careers in the Navy, as she is currently studying to be a naval nurse. She highly recommended the route she has taken as the opportunities the Navy has already given her have been immensely rewarding.
Megan shared her clearing story; she achieved grades much higher than she had initially anticipated and going to university was a late decision to study Criminology and Sociology. She has not regretted it for one minute
Daniel has graduated this year; he shared his thoughts on being homesick and how he overcame this by joining societies and has now made friends for life.
We could not be prouder of our students; it has been an absolute privilege to be part of their journey and we wish them well in all they do.
