Our former student Amelia Sharpe joins professional cycling team, NXTG Racing from 2021 on a two-year contract. She is looking forward to her step towards the UCI level.
“ It is really excited to join NXTG. My goals for the next year are to develop as a rider and become more knowledgeable on racing tactics. With the experienced riders and staff NXTG has, it's the perfect place for me. I’m also looking forward to meeting all the girls on the team and living out in the Watersley sports and talent park.”
She started riding when she was 5 and started racing when she was 12. She raced a lot in the Netherlands and Belgium as junior in the Nations Cup races. With a 5th place in the overall of the EPZ Omloop van Borsele she showed she knows how to race in the windy and fast races in the low countries.
As a rider I would say I am an all-rounder. I love the hills but also love the windy flat races in Holland where the racing is so hard it just splits the field. I enjespecially during the winter to avoid the British weather!
All of us at St. Ninian’s wish Amelia well with her new team and look forward to hearing how she gets on.
