On Tuesday 22nd June, A Level Biology students attended a local field trip to sample seaweed on the Port Jack end of Douglas Beach. This was part of their Practical Endorsement for their Biology A Level course. Students and staff enjoyed the sunny weather to walk to the site and survey the beach. Students worked in groups to sample seaweed along a line transect on Douglas beach and were able to identify and quantify different seaweed species. Students enjoyed a nice lunch at The Villa Café. In the following lessons, students analysed and discussed their results and presented this in their Lab books. The visit was in conjunction Manx Wildlife Trust who have exceptional local knowledge and expertise of Manx Wildlife and Biodiversity.

We would like to thank Dawn Colley from Manx Wildlife Trust, all our students for their enthusiasm and Mrs Sinclair and Miss Salway for organising the trip.
