After weeks of preparation, three of our Year 8 students – Morgan Braidwood, Jeremy Miranda and Phoebe Cringle – headed to Ramsey Grammar School to represent SNHS in the annual Rotary Youth Public Speaking Competition. The students presented a speech entitled “The End of Homework?” and reviewed all the positives and negatives of homework for students, parents and teachers. On the evening, Morgan was our chairperson and Jeremy our speaker. Despite an excellent presentation from the students of Ramsey Grammar, our team pulled out all the stops and wowed the judges, leading them to walk away the victors of the evening. This feat alone is impressive, but is made even more so by the fact that this is SNHS’ first time lifting the trophy in a decade!

The English Department would like to sincerely congratulate and thank all three of these students for their time, hard work and determination. Bring on 2023!
