On Thursday 23rd June, A Level Biology students attended a local field trip to sample seaweed on the Port Jack end of Douglas Beach. This was part of their Practical Endorsement for their Biology A Level course. Students and staff enjoyed the sunny weather to walk to the site and survey the beach. Groups of students sampled seaweed along a line transect on Douglas beach and were able to identify and quantify different seaweed species. In the following lessons, student will analyse and discuss their results and present them in their lab books. The visit was in conjunction Manx Wildlife Trust who have exceptional local knowledge and expertise of Manx Wildlife and Biodiversity.
We would like to thank Dawn Colley from Manx Wildlife Trust, all our students for their enthusiasm and Miss Salway and Mrs Crellin for organising the trip.
