Last week Year 12 politics students took a trip to Tynwald to gain an insight into how the Manx political system works. Students received a very informative tour of all three legislative chambers with information on the work of each chamber, its history and how it connects with the other two chambers.
After the tour the students sat in the public gallery to watch a question time in Tynwald court. There were some interesting exchanges between members on issues such as the sale of government property, plastic recycling, policies on domestic violence and provision for population challenges on the Island. This was a great opportunity for the students to witness politics in action and to see for themselves how well they are being represented by their MHKs.
