This applies to all Year 11 students who have been informed they are sitting their GCSE English Language in the coming weeks.

This is a reminder that English Language GCSE examinations are fast approaching.

The dates of the exams are:

• the morning of Thursday 12th October for the Reading Paper.

• the morning of Tuesday 17th October for the Writing Paper.

In line with our policy students sitting an external examination can take the day before as study leave, but only with parental consent, if they believe this is the best method of preparation.

Following each examination students are expected to return to their normal timetabled lessons for the day.

In the run up to the examinations, the English department have kindly volunteered to give up their own time to offer additional lunchtime revision session on a Tuesday and Wednesday, students should speak with their teacher for details.

As a school we are required to uphold a very strict set of expectations laid out by the awarding bodies and failure to follow these expectations is considered to be malpractice and is dealt with accordingly.

Please ensure you arrive to the exam room with the correct equipment, you are not allowed to borrow, or share equipment in the exam; you must be self-sufficient. This includes three highlighter pens in addition to your black pen plus a spare.

Please also remember you must NOT arrive to the exam room with electrical items (Phones, airpods, etc), any kind of watch, pieces of paper (timetables, labels, packaging) or coats. These item must be stored elsewhere, ideally your locker.

If you have any queries regarding preparing for these examinations please speak with your subject teacher or Mrs Dargan Subject Leader. Queries about the examination organization should be directed to Mrs Neill or our Exams Officers.
