The Senior Rugby team have a slow start to the season, missing the first round of fixtures due to lack of numbers. However, with some rallying from Captain Adam Horsey and new Y12 student Theo Head, we managed to put a team out for a home game versus Castle Rushen. It was a closely contested game that showed that both sides could show resistance in defence, as well as some clinical attacking moves. Castle Rushen were 12-5 up at half time with Caleb Hewgill scoring the SNHS try. The second half saw a couple of lads pick up injuries and Castle Rushen capitalised and ended up 22-10 winners, with Tayler Callow scoring an excellent try in the corner for the Saints.
Our second game saw the boys travel over the fairy bridge to Castletown and a game against KWC. This proved to be an unbelievably close game, that ebbed and flowed, with both teams leading and conceding as the game progressed. However, it was KWC who edged the game by 1 point! Final score was 43-42. Try scorers for the Saints were Reuben Neilan [3] (borrowed from BHS), Theo Head [2] and Adam Horsey. All tries were excellently converted by Theo.
One more game to play against a tough QEII team after half term.
