This week in our Sixth Form we have had a distinct 'pathways' focus, where students have had the opportunity to explore their future career plans. To help them reflect we have been delighted to welcome a number of visitors, including Search and Select, who explained the different employment sectors, Steph Foxton, a former student, who gave advice on writing a personal statement and attending university open days, Gail Corran, who spoke about the degree courses available at UCM and Jane Murphy from the University of Huddersfield, who talked about studying in Higher Education, the skills that admissions tutors look for, and also gave an insight into writing an effective personal statement.
Today, students have been working on developing their CVs and writing personal statements with their tutors. This afternoon they will attend the Higher Education Conference where they will be able to meet over 60 delegates from UK universities. It has been a busy week, but we hope that students have much greater clarity on the variety of options available to them post A Level study.
