The Year 8 boys put on a dominant display of Rugby on Monday against KWC, scoring 14 tries and only conceding 1. In the first quarter we came out firing from the first whistle. Thomas Twist set the tone with two early tries, followed by strong runs from Liam Reid and two more tries from Noah Nicholson to wrap up a powerful first quarter. A completely fresh team came on for the second quarter and kept up the momentum, putting another five tries past KWC. With Yusuf, Toby, Louie, Leighton, and Micah all getting over the line and scoring. Another squad rotation in the third quarter saw a new team take the field and whilst we didn’t score, the boys showed excellent defensive organisation, conceding just the once and holding firm under pressure. In the final quarter a mix of returning players and those still waiting to get on, saw the game out in style. Toby and Noah grabbing their third of the match as well Nathan also getting on the scoresheet to round out a comprehensive 14–1 win.
From the first through to the final whistle the boys were putting in big tackles, were dominant at the breakdown, powerful carries, and great support play - a huge improvement from last week, and if we had performed like this then, it would have been a much closer contest. Player of the match was awarded to Noah Nicholson, for his hat-trick of tries and outstanding work at the ruck. That said, every single player contributed brilliantly to a top team performance.
