Following a further review of conditions on school sites this morning ( Monday 5th January 2026), it has been determined that they are still not safe for pupils to access. As a result, schools and University College Isle of Man will remain closed for the remainder of the day.
They are expected to reopen on Tuesday as normal. While some sites may be accessible, the safety of pupils and staff remains the top priority.
Roads
Temperatures will remain low throughout the day. All main roads remain open, but people are urged to drive with caution. Residents are encouraged to allow extra time for journeys. Estates and bus routes will continue to be cleared throughout the morning.
Hospital
People will still be seen at the hospital today but should only travel if it is safe to do so. Anyone scheduled for essential renal or chemotherapy should still attend. If they cannot travel they should call hospital.
We apologise for this update being issued later than planned
