On Monday 9th February as part of the celebrations for the Year of the Manx Language, the Year 7, 8 and 9s learning Manx at the lower school had an enrichment lesson with Stephen Rule alias Dr. Cymraeg. Stephen is renowned across Wales and beyond for his work in promoting the Welsh language online. He has inspired thousands through his engaging talks, creative content, and advocacy for minority languages.

Stephen delivered a short motivational talk about language advocacy, and the positive impact young people can make and encouraged students to take their Manx learning further and how they could inspire others in their community. He also discussed the benefits of language learning generally and the parallels between the Welsh and Manx languages. He touched on how a knowledge of Manx is advantageous to students for future choices such as for example applying for higher education.

Ruth Keggin-Gell from Culture Vannin talked about since learning Manx how it has had an impact on her life through her international singing career and in her day job as a promoter of the Manx language for Culture Vannin.
