It’s hard to believe the end of our week-long Universities Visit arrived so quickly. The packed schedule, early starts and long days meant there was very little time to slow down, but every minute had been worthwhile. One final early breakfast just before 7:30am gave everyone the chance to refuel before the journey home. Some students headed back to finish packing their cases, while others made one last visit to the on-site shop to stock up on snacks for the ferry crossing. Room checks took place just after 8:30am before everyone checked out with the Edge Hill team and collected their final packed lunch of the week. As always, Darren and Steve arrived bang on time, had the coaches loaded in no time at all, and we were soon heading towards Liverpool. Before leaving, we had the opportunity to thank Chris, Tom, Kate and the fantastic Edge Hill team who had looked after us so brilliantly throughout the week. Their warmth, organisation and hospitality made us feel incredibly welcome, and they are a real credit to the university.

We arrived at Liverpool Ferry Terminal ahead of schedule and, after saying our goodbyes to the ever-reliable Darren and Steve, checked in our luggage before boarding for the final leg of our journey back to the Isle of Man. The crossing was filled with plenty of laughter as students reflected on everything they had experienced during the week. Conversations soon turned back to Higher Education, with many still asking questions about courses, universities and future career paths. If anything, the visit has inspired even more curiosity and encouraged students to think carefully about the exciting decisions that lie ahead.

Throughout the week, our students were an absolute credit to themselves, their families and St Ninian's High School. Without exception, every university commented on how polite, engaged and respectful they had been, with several staff telling us they were the best group of students they had welcomed in a long time. Praise doesn't come much higher than that.

A huge thank you must also go to the staff who dedicated their time and energy to making the trip such a success. Mrs Strickett, Ms Sharpe, Ms Malyan, Ms Crisford, Mrs Needle and Mr Clements gave so much throughout the week, supporting, encouraging and guiding our students every step of the way. Quite simply, they were an outstanding team, and I couldn't have asked for better colleagues to share the experience with.

Although it's back to school for a few days next week, we hope this visit has helped our students move one step closer to making informed decisions about their futures. Whether it confirmed a first choice, introduced a university they hadn't previously considered, or simply sparked new ambitions, the week has undoubtedly been a valuable one.

Well done, Class of 2027. You represented yourselves, your families and St Ninian's with pride. You were an absolute pleasure to spend the week with, and we can't wait to see where your journeys take you next.
