This year the United Nations Association of the Isle of Man Model Security Council met to discuss the further use of sanctions against North Korea in the light of their continued weapons testing.
SNHS represented Sweden (Orry Kennaugh and Leah Prow) and Ethiopia (Amber Young and Alex Moyer). Both teams did a fantastic job, both in their opening addresses to the council and then in the bi-lateral negotiations with the other member states. Such was the quality of their negotiations that Amber and Alex won the prize for best representation of a country (Ethiopia). This was no mean feat as they were up against some very good opposition from countries that had a much stronger position to maintain, such as Russia and the UK.,
Well done to both teams, and particularly Ethiopia for standing your ground!
