On Monday and Tuesday this week Year 8 have been visiting Summerhill Glen as part of their science work. The visit was in collaboration with Manx Wildlife Trust and gave the students the opportunity to carry out some field work. Dawn and Graham from Manx Wildlife Trust asked our students survey the Glen as if it had just been given to the Trust. Students worked on species sampling, identification of plants, kick sampling and looking at freshwater mini beasts as an indicator of pollution levels in the stream running through the Glen. The experience was enjoyed by all our Year 8s who attended and helped to increase their awareness of our rich Manx biodiversity. The experience will act as a basis of further learning in lessons next week. Thank you to all staff involved in the running and organising of this visit and special thank you to Dawn and Graham from Manx Wildlife Trust.
