A level Politics students met with Andrew Rosnidell MP. last week (via Zoom) for another Digital Surgery hosted by the Politics Project.

Andrew is conservative MP for Romford and Chairman of the British Overseas Territories, so he has a connection to the Isle of Man and has visited on a number of occasions.

Andrew is often described as one of Westminster’s most patriotic MPs, and students were given plenty of indication as to why. Our students asked Andrew questions about the highs and lows of his political career, they questioned him on his voting patterns in relation to welfare benefits and tuition fees, and also the issue of Manx independence was discussed, as well as Brexti, which Andrew is in firm favour of.

All in all the students had a great opportunity to further understand the role of an MP in the House of Commons and an insight into the inner workings of UK politics.
