As part of the applied learning pathway, our CoPE students celebrated completing the end of their first unit of work on Guide Dogs UK by meeting ‘Zesty’ – a retired guide dog from the Manx Blind Welfare society.
They have completed 3 weeks of work on what it means to be blind, different conditions that alter vision, living with a visual impairment and stereotypes. They have gained first-hand experience of trying to complete everyday tasks whilst blind-folded and have also read a book on the first sight-seeing dog in America called Buddy!
Miss Annesley is delighted with their progress.
