The Senior football season is up and running for the first time in 3 years. In week 1 the lads played local rivals Ballakermeen at the Bowl where the Saints narrowly lost out 2-1 in a real ‘game of two halves’. The goal was scored by new signing David Wilson on his St. Ninian’s debut! The ‘B’ team won 1-0 with captain Josh Sinclair scoring the only goal, but the star of the show was goal keeper Alex Pannell who saved two penalties within the space of a minute!

In week 2 it was a tricky trip south of the Fairy Bridge to the King William’s castle. In blustery conditions the Saints played well to come out 2-1 winners, with the young Y11s Dan Kinrade and Harley Jackson getting the goals. The ‘B’ team ran out 5-0 winners with goals from James Edmonds (2), Jack Edmonds, Luca Parlato and Alex Greensides.

Yesterday the Saints came up against a tough Ramsey Grammar side who limited us to only a few attempts, however, the St. Ninian’s lads defended with gusto and held out for a 0-0 draw – a rare score-line in schoolboy football! Dan Kinrade impressed once again as did captain Ben Cowin and young Noah Vowels who made some vital interceptions. The ‘B’ team continued their winning streak with a 4-0 victory and another clean sheet for Alex Pannell. Scorers were Jack and James Edmonds, Josh Sinclair and Luca Parlato who was also awarded Man of the Match.

Next week we face the bookies favourites, QEII, at Lower School on Thursday at 4pm.
