On Tuesday 28th March the annual presentation of Bronze and Silver Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards took place. The event is organised by Alison Barnes, the award co-ordinator for the island, assisted by staff from the Youth Service. Awards were presented by Malcolm Kelly, one of the first ever recipients of an award. The event brings together all of the award units on the island and a record of 150 young people collected their certificates.
Mr Clements would like to thank Mr Coole and the senior leadership team for their support, the staff volunteers who give up their time to help run expeditions, the parents and assessors in the community for helping students achieve the goals of their volunteering, skill and physical sections, Alison Barnes for her support, Paul Melling and Lucy Connors from Adventureology and of course the students for their enthusiasm, resilience and commitment.
