St Ninian’s students have had an extremely successful Guild week this year with winners in classes across the whole spectrum of Singing, Dancing, Acting, Spoken Word and Instrumental classes.

Vocal successes included;

Penny Lavery (Year 9) winning the girls solo, Kasia Ashton (12) winning the Folk Song and Duet classes, Kendra Maddox (11) winning the Lieder and Girls Solo, Eva Macaulay (Year 10) winning the Songs from the Musicals and Will Shooter (13) winning the Pop Song class.

Many pupils across all year groups competed with their respective schools in the dance classes and Fianna Watterson (Year 8) won the Tap solo and Character Dance.

In the acting and public speaking classes Emma Hill (Year 9) won the Shakespeare class, Phoebe Cringle (Year 11) won Spoken Word and the Pat Corrin Memorial Trophy, Penny Lavery (Year 9) won the Spoken word by Manx Authors and Cairan Hannay (9) won the Reading at Sight.

Instrumental players also had success with Vicky Thompson (Year 9) winning the Woodwind class (grade 3-5). In fact, all the competitors in this class attend SNHS! Zen Perez (Year 11) won the Piano Solo class (Grade 5-6).

Jonathan Pilling (Year 9) won the Own Choice Piano Class and Elisa Gerrard (Year 10) was part of the winning group in the Adult Vocal Ensemble class.

Many pupils had success with their dance schools, theatre schools and Bands including Stage One, Arts Hub, Platform Theatre School, MoveIt, Unity and Manx Concert Brass.

Miss Mellor also had some success winning the General Vocal solo class and coming second in the hotly contested Songs from the Musicals.

Not forgetting our fabulous choir who finished of the festival with their performance in the Concert Class and Lower School Band who achieved second place in the Instrumental ensemble.

Whether you won your class or not we are super proud of everyone from St Ninian’s who braved the stage and took part. Well done!
