On Friday 13th June, sixteen St. Ninian’s High School students competed in the St. Ninian’s High School Golf Tournament at King Edward Bay golf course.
It was a perfect evening for 9 holes of golf, which showed in the scoring, as many of the players did extremely well in their first stableford tournament.
There was a maximum handicap of 36 shots, and as the vast majority didn’t have an official handicap, all played off the maximum shots.
Charlie Kelly just missed out on the top 3 with a steady round filled with 3 pointers, finishing on 23 points. Sam Cooke parred 16 and had a string of gross bogeys for 26 points and 3rd place, but George L and Finlo T both showed excellent skill consistently, getting two gross pars each and scored on every hole for 27 points. Finlo’s pars on 14 and 18 were decisive and meant he took the top spot on count back so is crowned the St. Ninian’s Golf Champion 2025.
The top four who are now chosen to represent St Ninian’s at Mount Murray on June 22nd are Finlo T, George L, Sam C and Charlie K.
Notable mentions for our youngest golfers - Alfie H-D and Dexter D. Alfie showed excellent improvements as he got more comfortable with the course and Dexter showed a lovely range of quality shots over the 9 holes. Well done lads.
Layla Cuckson was the best St Ninian’s female golfer, demonstrating a lovely swing and good control around the greens throughout the round.
It was a lovely evening enjoyed by all and we are looking forward to an even bigger event for our students next year.
