Last week the Year 13 A Level English Language students were lucky enough to receive a visit from crime writer MJ Arlidge who was visiting the island as part of the island’s Manx Litfest event.

Matt talked to the students about his exciting career which entailed writing scripts for television and as an esteemed author. He gave them some excellent tips for successful narrative writing to assist them with their A Level coursework. Several students have decided on fiction for their chosen creative genre, and they found his advice on opening a novel and planning a plot extremely useful. In turn, Matt was very impressed with the work the class produced under his guidance.

As always, having an author in, thanks to the Arts Council, was an exciting experience which the students found inspiring.
