We are absolutely thrilled to share that the St Ninian’s High School Intermediate Boys’ Swim Team have achieved outstanding success at the ESSA North West Secondary School Team Championships, finishing 1st in both the 4×50 m Front Crawl and 4×50 m Medley Relays. Their performance places them among the very best in the country, and they have now qualified for the ESSA National Finals in Birmingham on Friday 15 November, where they will compete against the top 24 schools in the UK, from over 177 entries, spanning both state and prestigious independent schools.

The St Ninian’s team of Charlie Bevan, Oscar Maddrell, Eli Birchenough, and Ed Pearson, produced phenomenal swims to finish 10th fastest nationally in the 4×50 m Front Crawl and 14th fastest in the 4×50 m Medley Relay. To put this achievement into context, St Ninian’s sits on the same results sheet as some of the most renowned swimming schools in Britain, including Millfield School, Harrow School, Repton, Royal Grammar School Guildford and Dulwich College. That a small Isle of Man state school can not only compete with but outperform many of these institutions is an incredible testament to the talent, determination, and team spirit of our students.

This is an exceptional achievement for the boys, our school, and Isle of Man sport as a whole. Everyone at St Ninian’s is extremely proud of what they have accomplished. Congratulations, Charlie, Oscar, Eli, and Ed, and good luck in the National Finals on the 15th November.
