Welcome back to another debate update. The KS3 and KS4 debate teams took on Ballakermeen's debate team on the ever difficult question:
'This house supports the complete removal of Santa Claus from the traditions and celebrations of Christmas.'
It was a tough question that required some out of the box thinking but the KS3 team continued their success from earlier in the term with a victory thanks to some clever and well researched points from Michalina and Sasa as well as a fantastic rebuttal from Yosif. This won Yosif the Speaker of the Debate for his well-rounded and focused performance.
We also had Jordana stepping into the role of Timekeeper for this debate and Bianca as Chairperson maintaining control. A big thanks to those of debate club who came along to watch and support as this gave the KS3 team a much-needed lift.
KS4 put up a strong defence and performed very well but ultimately the polished Ballakermeen side managed to put together an insurmountable opposition and won the debate. Speaker of the Debate went to Mian, but they all worked incredibly hard and this showed in their preparation.
