Last term the girls took part in the annual Girls Football tournaments and what a tournament the Year 10 A Team Tournament was! The SNHS girls were unstoppable, going through every game unbeaten with one hard-fought draw and not conceding a single goal along the way!
Lilley Dentith led the defence with some solid tackles, keeping every opponent at bay. In midfield, Amelia Griffiths, Grace Workman, and Isabel Gumbley controlled the game brilliantly, linking defence and attack with precision. Up front, Sophie Kaighan, Falon Patrick, Daisy McGuirk and Evie Jones executed some strong passes and dangerous runs, constantly creating scoring opportunities. And let’s not forget Maisie Pease in goal, making some incredible saves to keep that clean sheet intact. The teamwork, determination, and sheer skill shone through in every match. A truly well deserved victory!
The Year 10 B Team girls came with bundles of energy ready for their Football tournament on a sunny winter afternoon. The first game kicked off against Ramsey Grammar School, with the game being very open and end to end. Defenders Tabatha Caine and Georgie Stoneman made some great tackles at the back, keeping the score at 0-0, right until the last 15 seconds of the game, where winger Aoife Cooper drifted inside and slotted the ball past the keeper to result in a 1-0 win for SNHS. The saints played Castle Rushen in the second game, looking to build upon a good win. The ever energetic Daisy Lyle scored a fantastic solo goal, beating 4 players with pace before placing the ball through the goalkeeper's legs. Caitlyn Graham found herself in some great positions in this match to intercept passes at start attacks for the Saints. The game stayed 1-0 until the last few minutes where Aoife popped up with another goal, finishing the game with another win, the score finishing SNHS 2-0 CRHS. The Saints moved onto their third game vs King William’s College, looking for a third consecutive win. Captain Nevaeh Dunn worked tirelessly in midfield with Anwarite Wanyama to regain possession when it was lost. Olivia Mackie scored on a great counter attack to break the deadlock. Goalkeeper Liliana Mojska made some vital saves towards the end of the match to keep the score at 1-0 to earn another clean sheet and a win. The final match was played against QEII knowing that a win would crown the girls Year 10 B Team Football winners. Addison Kennedy made some impressive tackles early on to help out the defence, with some resilient play. Daisy Lyle opened the goal scoring with a calm finish after breaking through the opposition defence. Addison then continued her impressive goalscoring form, scoring late on to finish the match 2-0 to SNHS. The Year 10 girls played brilliantly all day, not conceding a single goal and winning every match. This was a great show for girls football, which should hopefully encourage more girls to join up with local football teams.
