Our Year 12 Sports Leaders have been exceptionally busy in recent weeks, showcasing their growing leadership skills and making a fantastic contribution to our school and wider community.
They began by organising and running the Year 7 Inter-Schools Basketball Tournament, taking full responsibility for a range of roles including refereeing, scoring, and managing the table. The event was extremely well organised, and every student played a key role in ensuring its success. Their professionalism and teamwork were clear for all to see.
Following this, the group embarked on a six-week placement with three of our feeder primary schools: Scoill yn Jubilee, Onchan, and Ashley Hill. During their placements, the Sports Leaders developed essential skills such as communication, self-belief, teamwork, self-management, and problem-solving. We received excellent feedback from all schools involved, who highlighted how well our students built relationships with pupils and how thoughtfully they planned and delivered physical activity sessions.
To round off a very productive term, our Sports Leaders also supported the Inter-Primary Schools Cross Country Event last week. As well as marshalling the course and helping with the smooth running of the event, they assisted with the presentation of awards, filmed runners finishing, and took photos of the winners. This gave them valuable experience of the wider responsibilities involved in delivering a large-scale sporting event. Once again, they represented the school superbly, they were helpful, enthusiastic, and willing to support wherever needed.
We are incredibly proud of the maturity, dedication, and positive attitude shown by all our Year 12 Sports Leaders. They continue to be excellent ambassadors for the school.
