In the run up to February half term 37 Year 8 students participated in the 2018 SNHS Ski Trip to Les Menuires in the French Alps. The trip was a huge success overall and all students were a credit to St. Ninian’s High School. Behaviour was excellent throughout the whole trip and it really was a pleasure to spend 8 days with the group, and also an unexpected bonus to be able to get to know some of the students I’ll be working with in the coming weeks and months as the new Head of Year 8.
The quality of the skiing was staggering. 30 of our 37 students had never worn skis before and the progress made within the first few hours of ski lessons was the best I’ve seen on a school ski trip.
Skiing wasn’t the only area of progress for our students… French language, talking to adults who weren’t teachers or relatives, trying new food, managing money, working with peers, sharing a room, meeting new people and keeping going when skiing was really really hard were all things the students excelled at.
The trip was a such a fantastic experience for staff and students alike, and the staff on the trip were proud to spend a week with such a lovely group of young people who did an excellent job of representing St. Ninian’s High School.
Bring on SNHS Ski Trip 2019!
