Mian Watterson of 7C came into school last Thursday informing us there was a truck travelling to Ukraine full of sweets for diabetic children on Saturday.

With so many Ukranians being displaced and travelling to neighbouring countries due to the conflict, getting a supply of the life-saving treatments they need as they travel across the border to safety is difficult.

A message of support was composed by Mian and his Tutor Mr Aldridge on 7C’s Google Classroom, which we shared via Google Classrooms across Lower School in the hope for some hypo supplies on the Friday. Sweets are a great, quick way of providing sugar to diabetics if they find their blood-sugar low.

Mian, who is diabetic, and his mum informed me that the consignment left the Island on Saturday morning travelling to areas such as Odessa, where endocrinologists are appealing for help as the vital supply lines they depend on have been closed.

We are extremely proud of Mian - well done to the students and staff who supported Mian and our thoughts are with Ukraine.
