The senior girls played their next game away at King William’s College, looking to continue the winning streak. The Saints started the game slowly and KWC capitalised 10 minutes in with an unmarked tap in at the far post, to put KWC 1-0 up. The game was frantic and end to end, with neither side keeping consistent possession of the ball. However, a great short corner fell to Ela Blakemore, whose precise shot found the far corner 2 minutes before halftime leaving it 1-1 at the break. The second half started and KWC came out with an additional energy which the saints could not match, making it 2-1 from a well taken short corner. The saints battled on but the chances were not converted, King William's College hit SNHS on the break, with an overload in attack making it 3-1. The girls pushed late on to try and get back into the game but again got punished on the counter attack, with the KWC forward left 1 on 1 with Poppy Gerrard, slotting the ball underneath her. The final score finished 4-1 to King William’s College. The senior girls were second best on the day, but a valuable lesson to learn with more hockey still to play. Player of the Match was voted as captain Macey Crellin, but special mention to Katie Jacobs who battled hard throughout the game. Heads up and move on to the next game, let’s go saints!
