Last Friday, our Year 12 Maths students attended the annual Key Stage 5 Maths Symposium at Ramsey Grammar School along with A-Level students from across the island.
Students had the opportunity to attend a talk by Dr Dorian Amaral about his academic journey with Maths, which started as a student on the Isle of Man and has seen him work and study in Durham, Texas and Barcelona. Later in the day, students worked in groups to solve a selection of mathematical problems and puzzles, competing against teams from the other sixth forms across the island.
Although none of our teams placed in the top three this year, our Year 12 students did us proud by working hard in their groups on the competition questions, testing their skills in mathematical techniques and logical reasoning.
A huge well done to all of the students who attended this year’s Maths Symposium and a massive thank you to Dr Dorian Amaral and Ramsey Grammar School for hosting such a wonderful event!
