The Year 10 boys faced a tough afternoon against a very strong Castle Rushen side, eventually going down 64–7.
The focus for the boys was to show heart and grit, and they certainly did that in abundance. When the game became difficult, the boys showed fantastic determination and continued to work hard and stay focused on the task at hand.
The Saints were rewarded for their efforts when, following a penalty deep in the Castle Rushen half, James Longden ran hard, gaining valuable ground before diving over the try line. His celebrations showed just how much the score meant to the team. Skipper Bobby Davenport then kicked an excellent conversion from a wide angle to make it 64–7.
The try and conversion seemed to give the boys a new level of confidence. They responded by hitting tackles hard and working tirelessly to restrict Castle Rushen from adding to their score.
The boys should be extremely proud of their performance. Despite the difficult circumstances, they showed resilience, determination and, most importantly, what it means to represent St Ninian’s High School.
Well done, boys!
